NS bundles off-peak rail travel to Amsterdam Centraal with entry to Highlights of Holland, where ten interactive rooms turn water history, art, clogs and cycling into a shared 75-minute experience.

What you need to know

Explaining windmills, water engineering, Dutch Masters, clogs and cycling to a first-time visitor usually takes several separate stops. Highlights of Holland compresses that story into a roughly 75-minute interactive route inside a historic chapel on Amsterdam’s Spaarndammerstraat. Visitors move from giant tulips and talking paintings to a cycling installation that creates music and a ride through Dutch water history. NS now combines admission with an off-peak day return to Amsterdam Centraal from €26.50 for adults and €19 for children, valid through 31 December except 21–23 August. It suits families who want one purchase instead of separate rail and attraction tickets. Check engineering works first, buy through NS, then use the voucher to reserve the attraction time slot.

  • The rail portion is valid before 06:30, from 09:00–16:00 or after 18:30 on weekdays; weekends and public holidays are off-peak all day.
  • Admission must be used with the accompanying NS ticket, and the order cannot be changed, cancelled or exchanged for cash.
  • The venue is about a 20-minute walk or five-minute bus ride from Amsterdam Centraal; the local bus fare is not included.
  • The experience is indoors with air conditioning, seating and an accessible toilet, but some rooms use flashing light effects.

Hokimi field note: Check both rail legs in the NS app before choosing the museum slot; boarding at 15:55 does not make a journey through the evening peak valid.
